The three-row cylindrical roller slewing bearing with an outer diameter of 4.6 meters and high radial load capacity has passed acceptance.
Jan.09,2026On January 5th,2026, the domestic first set of three-row cylindrical roller slewing bearing with an outer diameter of 4.6 meters and high radial load capacity, designed for the world's largest 120-meter fully steerable radio telescope, has been successfully launched by LYC and successfully passed the acceptance inspection by the expert panel. The milestone signifies another breakthrough for China in the field of extra-large telescope supporting bearing technology, setting new dual benchmarks in both radial load capacity and precision for fully steerable telescopes bearings . This is also another important achievement for the group company after the acceptance of the bearings for the 110-meter QTT radio telescope on July 17, 2025.
This bearing is the azimuth bearing developed for the world's largest 120-meter diameter fully steerable radio telescope, led by the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It boasts an overall precision of P4 grade and utilizes a three-row cylindrical roller slewing bearing structure with high radial load capacity. It can provide radial positioning and auxiliary support for the azimuth mechanism, meeting the requirements for smooth rotation of the telescope through ±360 degrees. To meet the high pointing accuracy requirements, the bearing employs a pre-tensioned design in the radial direction, achieving a radial load capacity of 42,000 KN, which is the highest among this field.
